Beating End-of-Year Burnout

Wrapping up projects, wrapping up presents, a flurry of parties and fast diminishing finances – it’s no wonder that November and December are the worst times of year for ‘burnout’.

Recognised by the World Health Organisation as an occupational phenomenon, burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion.

But it’s not only those with overwhelming workloads who feel the strain in the festive season because the run-up to Christmas can be a minefield to navigate involving unaffordable expense, unavoidable social engagement, or a sense of glaring isolation, as well as a political and emotional compromise as families come together to celebrate.

And when all of this comes on the back of a tough year, characterised by excessive and prolonged stress, it’s only a short misstep into a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion.

And if that wasn’t enough to contend with, the festive season is often a time tinged with regret – for goals not met or for opportunities lost. For many people, Christmas is also a sad time of reflection with friends and loved ones who have passed away being remembered.

Is it any wonder then that many of us are simply ‘done’ by the time the year draws to an end?

Signs of Burnout

All too often, people are so busy trying to enjoy themselves during the festive period they fail to recognise the classic signs of burnout. The red flags to be aware of include:

  • Feeling constantly tired or drained
  • Feeling helpless, trapped or defeated
  • Feeling detached or alone in the world
  • Having a cynical or negative outlook
  • Self-doubt
  • Procrastinating and taking longer to get things done
  • Feeling overwhelmed

Therapies to Relight Your Inner Flame

Sadly, burnout isn’t something which goes away on its own – it can actually worsen if underlying issues aren’t dealt with.  However, finding time for yourself to take a breath, relax and recharge will go a long way in addressing any bone-crushing sense of fatigue.

There are also a number of treatments that will help put the pep back in your step. Here are three of our most popular therapies to address burnout issues:

  • IV Energy Boost. IV infusions are a dynamic way to give your body what it needs exactly when it needs it. Blending IV fluids, electrolytes, and vitamins, our Energy Boost drips fight off fatigue and restore your get-up-and-go. Working almost instantaneously with no known side effects, the IV Energy Boost is the most effective way to recharge your system with the fuel it needs for optimum performance.
  • Intermittent Hypoxic Hyperoxic Training (IHHT). When energy levels are low and you are dogged by a fatigue that you can’t seem to shake, you may need a helping hand to get back in the game – and IHHT is not only that helping hand, but a safe one to reach for. Beloved of athletes, IHHT is an altitude therapy that involves breathing in hypoxic (low oxygen) and hyperoxic (high oxygen) air to stimulate the activity of protective proteins like antioxidants while optimising the efficiency of mitochondrial energy production. IHHT rejuvenates and protects the cells in our body while stimulating muscle strength, stamina, agility, and mental function.
  • Used by professional sports teams throughout the world for pain relief and healing, Papimi is a high-tech, electromagnetic therapeutic device that safely induces ion induction in cells to help return the body to a biologically younger state. Invented by a Greek physicist and mathematician named Dr Panos Pappas, the Papimi device creates a pulsed electromagnetic field which is applied to different parts of the body to stimulate and activate normal healing processes, including the growth and repair of tissue. As well as helping with pain relief and offering anti-aging benefits, Papimi has shown to be beneficial in the treatment of a number of conditions including: chronic fatigue syndrome and exhaustion.
