Miranda Hart Opens Up About Her Battle With Lyme Disease: A Journey from Misdiagnosis to Hopeful Recovery

British comedian and actress Miranda Hart has recently opened up about her battle with Lyme disease – a battle that left her “bedbound for years.”

The 51-year-old also revealed how her three-decade long illness was initially diagnosed as agoraphobia.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival in the UK, she said she eventually “hit rock bottom” when she suffered a total “collapse” following the end of her popular sitcom in 2015.

“I was housebound and bedbound for years,” she said. “I didn’t have a job. I didn’t have a social life. I didn’t have any responsibilities or identities.”

It was at this point that the star urged doctors to look deeper into her symptoms.

Several blood tests later, Miranda was diagnosed with Lyme disease, something she believes she may have contracted as a teenager while living in Virginia, USA.

While Miranda’s health has improved in recent years, she admits she has not yet “fully recovered” but is optimistic following her diagnosis. But as many followers and guests of Neomed will know, Lyme disease can be brutal to deal with and extremely difficult to recover from.

Every year, we welcome sufferers through our doors, all experiencing their own private hell from living with this condition – a condition that, like Miranda, many have been struggling with for years before diagnosis.

Our guests come to us from all over the world – from the UK and America, but also from Europe, Israel, and the Middle East.

And they come because we have proved, time and again, that there is light at the end of this long, dark tunnel.

At Neomed we have the means, the expertise, and the experience to help you find that light, and start living again.
